Welcome to Empowerment Society for Skills Enhancement (eSseNce)
One of the major reasons for the current day problems engulfing developing, under-developed and also developing countries is lack of skills in young people.
Skilled Young people can be a solution to many problems and they can liberate our world from poverty.
About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations. This is one person every three and a half seconds.
Yet there is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty. They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves. Being constantly malnourished, they become weaker and often sick. This makes them increasingly less able to work, which then makes them even poorer and hungrier. This downward spiral often continues until death for them and their families.
There are effective programs to break this spiral. We at ESSENCE believe that adding the right skills will help them to escape from hunger and eradicate global poverty.
Empowerment is the process of increasing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes. Central to this process are actions which both build individual and collective assets.
Empowered people have freedom of choice and action. This in turn enables them to better influence the course of their lives and the decisions which affect them.
One of the ways, ESSENCE attempts to handle the issue of empowerment is by adding technical skills to young people so that they are better employable. ESSENCE also strives at encouraging individuals to become enterprenuers. All this with-out huge investment requirements.
